Start Your Road Trip Adventure from Seattle
Seattle isn't just about coffee and music; it’s surrounded by breathtaking nature. As a member of the Seattle Chinese community, I’d love to share some road trip routes that will help you escape the city's hustle and bustle over a weekend and enjoy the great outdoors.
1. Snoqualmie Falls
Just a 30-minute drive from Seattle, Snoqualmie Falls is one of the most famous attractions in the area. Rising 268 feet, the falls offer a stunning view from the observation deck, which is free to enter. If you want to spend the night, Salish Lodge nearby has rooms starting around $300, providing a perfect way to soak in the beauty of the falls at sunrise or sunset.
2. Mount Rainier National Park
Head south for about two hours to reach Mount Rainier National Park, a fantastic place for hiking and camping. The entrance fee is $30 per vehicle, making it a great option for families. The Paradise area is particularly beautiful in summer when the wildflowers bloom, and there are numerous trails to explore.
3. A Trip to Vancouver
If you're up for a longer drive, consider heading to Vancouver, which is about 2.5 hours away. After crossing the border, you’ll find a vibrant city. The Gastown district is filled with unique restaurants, where you can indulge in authentic Chinese cuisine, with dishes often ranging from $15 to $30.
4. Whidbey Island
For a different island experience, check out Whidbey Island. It's about a 1.5-hour trip by car and ferry. The picturesque scenery, especially in Coupeville, is historic and perfect for photos. Be sure to try the local crafts and fresh seafood at the small shops around the town.
5. Practical Tips
No matter which route you choose, you're bound to unwind and relish the stunning beauty surrounding Seattle!
