Yongzheng pastel plates and bowls are relatively common in the market. They are characterized by too light body, almost pinkish-white glaze, and some are bright blue. Some have precise patterns and paintings, and the "Yongzheng Year of the Qing Dynasty" written on the bottom is written in blue and white. Overall, it has certain Yongzheng official kiln pastel characteristics, but upon closer inspection, the copy quality is not truly up to standard, and the decoration is too precise, reflecting the flavor of modern painting and lacking more than 200 years of cultural accumulation. At first glance, the blue and white font of the copy looks the same as the handed down one, but if you look closely, the strokes are weak and loose, especially the blue and white color is not calm. What is more important to note is that in order to achieve the purpose of getting through, the copyists also adopt some make-up methods, that is, making the artifacts old. There are different ways to make things old. Some use very fine sandpaper for polishing marble, and some use some kind of acid to corrode the utensils and then grind them with a belt. Another handed down product is the "clam light". Due to the age of the utensils, some colored materials or glazes have been exposed to oxygen in the air for a long time, forming a rainbow-like reflection effect. In order to express this phenomenon, modern copyists soaked the utensils in potassium permanganate solution, but the "clam light" created in this way is still different from the ones handed down from ancient times. In addition, the newly copied Yongzheng pastel vessels also have thicker colors. Most of these vessels have a matte color surface, giving people a very old feel. If you look closely, you can see that the colored surface was polished. After polishing, some black and gray stuff was lightly applied around the decorative lines to imitate the traces of years of use. These are things that collectors should pay attention to.
