# Best Day Trips from Maryland

Living in Maryland for quite some time now, I’ve gathered a few fantastic day trip ideas that I’d love to share with my fellow Maryland Chinese community. Whether you’re looking for something historical, scenic, or just somewhere to relax, there’s plenty to choose from!

1. Annapolis

Annapolis, the charming capital of Maryland, is filled with rich history and beautiful waterfront views. We visited last month and enjoyed a delicious seafood lunch at a local favorite. Expect to spend around **$40-60 per person** for lunch and some snacks. Strolling along the waterfront is lovely, and you can also visit the United States Naval Academy. Just a heads up, parking can be tricky, so it's wise to check parking lots in advance.

2. Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Although a bit far at about a **4-hour drive**, this park is a must-see for nature lovers. My family and I went hiking there, and we spotted quite a bit of wildlife. The fall colors were absolutely breathtaking! Expect to pay a **$30 entrance fee**, but it’s worth every penny.

Tips for Visiting

  • Bring plenty of water and snacks.
  • Wear good hiking shoes.
  • Check the weather ahead of time.

  • 3. Philadelphia

Just about a **2-hour drive** from Maryland, Philadelphia is a paradise for history buffs. You can visit Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. We enjoyed a delicious bowl of beef noodles in Chinatown, with prices around **$10-20**. Make sure to check traffic conditions beforehand, as weekends can get quite busy.

    4. Virginia Beach

If you’re looking for a beach day, Virginia Beach is a perfect spot for a day trip. Just about **3 hours away**, the beach is great for families. We usually pack our own meals to avoid pricey restaurant costs. Parking is around **$10**, and the beach itself is free!

    Tips for a Beach Day

  • Arrive early to secure parking.
  • Bring beach games for the kids.
  • Don’t forget sunscreen!

  • 5. Harrisburg

As the capital of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg has many attractions worth visiting. Last month, we toured the State Capitol building, which was quite impressive! There are also nice restaurants nearby, where you can enjoy a meal for **$15-25**. It’s a great spot to take the kids!

I hope these recommendations help you make the most of your weekends! Spend some quality time exploring beautiful spots around Maryland with your family and friends.
