A Journey Through Chinese Bakeries in Kentucky
Living in Kentucky, finding a taste of home can sometimes feel like a treasure hunt. For many of us Chinese immigrants here, Chinese bakeries are our hidden gems. Let me guide you through some of my favorite spots, sharing experiences and tips along the way.
Sweet Delights: Qing Tian Bakery
One of my go-to places is Qing Tian Bakery in Louisville. This bakery is famous for its savory pork floss buns and rich salted egg yolk pastries. The prices range from $1.50 to $3, making it an affordable indulgence. I recommend visiting early in the morning to snag the freshest pork floss buns; they always sell out fast!
Tempting Desserts: Beijing Dessert House
If you have a sweet tooth, you absolutely cannot miss Beijing Dessert House located in Harrison County. Their ice skin mooncakes and red bean buns are crowd favorites. Prices are reasonable too, typically between $2 to $4. I usually grab a few to share with friends back home, and they can’t get enough! It’s such a hit during gatherings.
Diverse Flavors: Wan Wei Bakery
Another must-visit is Wan Wei Bakery, which is also in Virginia. They offer not just traditional Chinese bread but also unique fusion baked goods. The chocolate green tea bread and purple sweet potato buns are my personal favorites, priced around $2 to $5. The staff is super friendly and always ready with suggestions, especially for their seasonal specialties, which are delicious!
