Houston Chinese Newcomer Settlement Guide

Houston is Texas' largest city and one of the fastest-growing Chinese communities in America. Low cost of living, no state income tax, and abundant job opportunities make it a top choice.

  • **Get a phone** — Start with prepaid (T-Mobile, AT&T), switch to postpaid after SSN
  • **Open a bank account** — Chase, Bank of America, or Cathay Bank with passport
  • **Find temporary housing** — Airbnb or Chinese guesthouses while apartment hunting
