Fun Family Activities in Denver
Living in Denver for several years as part of the Chinese community, I’m always on the lookout for family-friendly activities. Denver is not just known for its stunning natural landscapes but also for its wide range of attractions perfect for kids.
1. Denver Children’s Museum
The Denver Children’s Museum is a must-visit! It features numerous interactive exhibits where kids can play and learn at the same time. Tickets are about $15, and trust me, your children will have a blast! Make sure to buy your tickets online in advance, especially during weekends when it tends to get crowded.
2. Parks in LoDo
The LoDo area has a fantastic spot called Union Station, surrounded by several parks. We often take our kids to Civic Center Park, where there’s plenty of grass for flying kites and having picnics. In the summer, the park offers free movie screenings, usually on Friday nights, which is a lot of fun for families.
3. Denver Zoo
The Denver Zoo is a family favorite! There’s a wide array of animals, and kids can see lions, giraffes, and elephants up close. The tickets are around $20. The zoo is quite expansive, so wear comfortable shoes and be ready to spend the whole day exploring.
4. Pikes Peak
For a little adventure, take the kids to Pikes Peak. It’s a bit of a drive, about 1.5 hours from Denver, but the views are absolutely breathtaking. At the summit, you can experience different climates and fresh mountain air, letting the kids run free in nature.
5. Denver Museum of Nature & Science
This museum is fantastic for kids, especially those interested in science. It features dinosaur fossils, space exhibits, and more, with tickets priced around $20. My kids absolutely love the 4D theater here, so check the showtimes in advance!
