Resources and Environment
Living in Denver for several years, I’ve gathered a wealth of knowledge about the educational resources available for Chinese students preparing for the SAT and ACT. While the Denver Chinese community isn't huge, there are plenty of excellent test prep resources here.
Recommended Learning Centers
1. Kaplan Test Prep
Kaplan has several locations throughout Denver offering SAT and ACT prep courses. From my experience, these classes typically cost between $1,200 and $1,800, depending on the length of the program. The courses are comprehensive, and the instructors are very knowledgeable.
2. PrepScholar
I also discovered PrepScholar online, which offers personalized preparation plans. Their pricing ranges from $400 to $800, making it a great option for busy students who need flexibility.
Study Tips
1. Create a Study Schedule
I strongly recommend creating a detailed study schedule that includes daily goals. For instance, I would plan to take at least two practice tests each week.
2. Join a Study Group
In the Denver Chinese community, you can use PandaListing to find study groups. Studying with others can provide motivation and accountability.
Extra Resources
1. Libraries
Denver's public libraries are excellent, especially the one in Cherry Creek. They have a vast selection of SAT prep books and practice materials, all available for free.
2. Online Resources
There is also a wealth of online resources available. For example, Khan Academy offers free SAT prep courses, and I found their math section particularly helpful.
