Weather Overview in Delaware
Living in Delaware for several years, I've come to appreciate how the weather can change so quickly. It really affects your day-to-day life and what you wear. Here’s my take on navigating the local climate.
Spring and Fall
From April to June and September to November, the weather is usually mild. Temperatures hover between 50 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit (about 10 to 21 degrees Celsius). I love taking strolls in Wilmington's Brandywine Park during this time, soaking in the sunshine and blooming flowers. I usually wear a light jacket and jeans; it’s the perfect combo.
Summer
Summer in Delaware can be hot, with temperatures soaring above 90 degrees Fahrenheit (around 32 degrees Celsius), especially in July and August. I recommend wearing breathable fabrics like lightweight short-sleeve shirts and shorts. Don’t forget sunscreen, especially if you’re enjoying the beach at Rehoboth. The sea breeze helps, but you still need to be careful about sunburn.
Winter
Winter, particularly from December to February, can be quite chilly, often dipping below freezing (32 degrees Fahrenheit or 0 degrees Celsius) with occasional snowfall. In this kind of weather, I personally love bundling up in a thick down jacket, scarf, and gloves, especially when I’m out shopping in Newark. Always remember to dress warmly to prevent colds!
