The Charm of Dim Sum
Living in Atlanta as a Chinese American, dim sum has become a cherished part of my weekends. It’s not just about the food; it’s about the experience of gathering with family and friends. We usually set aside time on Saturdays to indulge in delicious dim sum.
1. Jin Long Dim Sum
Located in Chamblee, Jin Long Dim Sum is one of my go-to spots. It’s got ample parking and a cozy environment. Their shrimp dumplings (虾饺) and siu mai (烧卖) are my absolute favorites, priced around $3-$5 per order. The flavors are authentic, and their soy sauce is a perfect complement! I often call ahead to reserve a table because the wait can get crazy on weekends.
2. Yonghe Dawang
Head over to Yonghe Dawang in North Atlanta for a great variety of dim sum at reasonable prices. I highly recommend their durian pastries (榴莲酥) and chicken feet (凤爪), with prices ranging from $4 to $7. The ambiance is family-friendly, making it a perfect spot for a fun outing with kids.
3. Lao Jie Dim Sum
If you find yourself in the southern part of Atlanta, you must check out Lao Jie Dim Sum. This place offers a wide range of dim sum options, all affordably priced between $2 to $6. Their egg tarts (蛋挞) and char siu buns (叉烧包) are particularly delicious and will leave you craving more.
4. A Perfect Spot for Regular Gatherings
Every time I visit these restaurants, I often run into other Chinese friends. We chat about our lives and share our food experiences, creating a warm sense of community. It’s more than just a meal; it’s about connection and culture.
